NYCC 2024 Funko Reveals: Dabura Pop! (HotTopic Exclusive)

Hello, obsessive fans (like me) of Dragon Ball Z! Today, I bring you some of the best news, especially if you’re collecting Funko Pops of Goku and his friends. Funko has announced a new release – a Dabura Pop! in honor of the New York Comic Con 2024.

Yes, it’s true: the king of evil, beloved but sometimes underrated, finally earns his place among the respected characters immortalized in vinyl.

Who is Dabura? The Demon King

For those who don’t know this character, let me tell you a bit about him. Even though he didn’t have many appearances (especially in the anime), he definitely left a good impression. In the world of Dragon Ball Z, Dabura is the Demon King, introduced during the Majin Buu Saga.

His first appearance showed us a villain with impressive power and some pretty unusual abilities, like his ability to turn enemies to stone with just a spit. Despite being a henchman of the terrible wizard Babidi, his complex personality and warrior skills left an impression on the fans.

Dabura's Redemption Arc

Dabura’s Redemption Arc

One of the most random things for me in the Majin Buu saga was Dabura’s redemption—the way he was sent to paradise instead of hell by King Yemma. What we saw was an intriguing change: from being the Demon King to becoming a much kinder and even adorable person (who could forget Dabura in “paradise”?)… it still gives me a lot of laughs.

This redemption arc makes him more than just a one-dimensional villain; it adds depth, which is something we fans always appreciate.

Dabura’s Iconic Design

Is there anything bad we can say about his design? It’s literally the perfect demonic design. Dabura was an antagonist who brought a fresh and revitalizing aesthetic to the Dragon Ball universe with his red skin, horns, and cape worthy of a top-tier villain.

His classic demon look, mixed with abilities like his demon sword and his almost regal demeanor, made him a fascinating character and a memorable villain who didn’t get enough recognition—at least, not until now.

The Exclusive Dabura Pop!

We already know that Dabura Pop! will be at NYCC 2024, meaning it will be a highly anticipated collectible. You’ll also be able to get it exclusively at HotTopic later on.

The figure captures Dabura completely: his serious look, his outfit with the “M” mark on his forehead (symbolizing his servitude to Babidi), and, of course, his proclamation, “I am the King of the Underworld and I’m not afraid to show it.”

As a collector, this is one of those Pops that you simply can’t pass up, especially if you’re a fan of villains and characters that don’t always get the spotlight but deserve as much recognition as the heroes.
